  • STRONGSVILLE, Ohio (AP) -- Cleveland Browns running back Reuben Droughns was arrested and charged with drunken driving early Tuesday.

Droughns failed a field sobriety test, and after agreeing to take a blood-alcohol test at the patrol's Medina post, he registered a .08 -- the state's legal limit.

He was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence and driving 50 mph in a 35-mph zone.

Droughns was released without bail and is scheduled to appear in Medina County Municipal Court on Friday. If convicted of the DUI charge, Droughns faces a maximum of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine, , said Sgt. Lance Shearer said.

The Browns acquired Droughns in a trade last March from Denver. He rushed for 1,240 yards and six touchdowns for the Broncos, who acquired defensive end Ebenezer Ekuban and defensive tackle Michael Myers.

Droughns has rushed for 530 yards on 125 carries this season.

I know it Ohio it didnt change to .08 until well after '93
    Anyone want to research?
.15 is pretty high for a legal limit, probably a good thing they dropped it down some!

I know that it dropped to 0.08 after January 2001 since the current administration required all states to do this or lose federal highway funds.

Here is what I found showing the cahnge effective 07/01/2003:

    Recent Ohio OVI legislation

    • Am. Sub. House Bill 87 (HB 87)—effective July 1, 2003—contained a provision that set Ohio’s Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) for those 21 and older to .08% (down from .10%).

My fiance went to the Longhorn in Strongsville (or whichever one is closest to Berea) with her parents last Tuesday and was shocked to see a bunch of Browns players sitting there having dinner. All of them were drinking pop or other non alcoholic drinks. Droughns came over from the bar beer in hand. It is interesting that she said Droughns was the only one of the group that was drinking and now he got a DUI. Looks like William Green is going to continue to get more reps.
