when they came out with the first (the REAL) "Dream Team" i was all for it, because the premise was they would have the NBAers for a ONE TIME, kick everybodys ass thing. it was amazing the talent they assembled. now its a joke.

they need to go back to college players, and possibly the lebrons and mello's of the association. no tim duncan, no allen iverson.....none of that crap. a team of lebron, mello, and some solid NCAA role players would OWN the olympics. hell, take out lebron and mello and just use amatures like you are supposed to, they would still rock the place.

get the NBAers back to their mansions, wives, and mistresses (who they may or may not have to rape) and let the team players represent us.

right. just like OSU had no chance against Miami, the patriots were going to get killed by the rams, the panthers had no shot to get to the super bowl, and the lakers would sweep detroit.

Uh, college players couldn't win in 1988. Since then, the college game has gone down, and the international game has gone up. The only way college players would have a chance in hell would be if ALL NBA players were not allowed, i.e. no Yao, no Ginobli, no whoever.

you want him to be innocent because youre obviously a fan. thats so sad. nevermind that he could have raped her. you like the basketball team he plays on so he's 100% innocent.

disclaimer: i dont know if he raped her or not.....i just like to call him "that rapist" to piss laker fans off. but i dont go around claiming his innocence just because im a laker fan.

Watch for the non-existent coverage of the final shot. 2 seconds left in the game, tie score after Nowitski nailed a clutch 3 to tie the game and, apparently send it to OT. Switch to main camera, camera haphazardly dips upward - off the court and into the crowd. While looking at the crowd, see the ball just barely arc across the bottom of the screen, and a second later hear Walton scream "He hit it from mid-court!", just as the buzzer sounds. You just missed the biggest play of the game because the cameraman fell asleep!

There's a bit of a difference between college players playing Olympic hockey vs. college players playing Olympic basketball. The U.S. has by far the strongest and deepest talent pool in the world in basketball; not so in hockey. Taking a few levels down from the top of the basketball talent pool would still provide a reasonably competitive team, provided they were given the time to become a team.

Part of the problem with these U.S. national basketball teams can be easily understood by imagining how Ohio State would fare if they had no spring or fall practice, but just took one week before the season started to sort out their roster and "prepare".
