Where are they now?

In light of last weekend's NFL draft, I was curious to look back and see how many of those first-round guys had been deemed all-world back when they were in high school. Since there are so many different rankings, I figured it made the most sense to go with one list. I picked the roster of the 2002 U.S. Army All-American Game and figured it'd be interesting to check in on that bunch.
The roster I did my research from is alphabetized by the colleges they chose, although as you'll see many didn't finish at the places they started. And, to be fair, quite a few still have another season to play in college.
Two things were pretty startling: There were so many Notre Dame players in the game, and there are just seven who even made it as first-day draft picks (including Denver's pick last year of Maurice Clarett).

Ra'Shawn Mosley, Arizona, RB: Now playing at Washburn University.
Vickiel Vaughn, Arkansas, DB: Drafted in the 7th round by San Francisco.
Jim Unis, Boston College, DL: Stopped playing for BC after sustaining some concussions as a freshman.

The fact that there were 12 Domers, and only 2 players each from tOSU and USC, has nothing to do with the fact that Tom Lemming is involved in the player selection process. :tongue2:

And that's without counting Lorenzo Booker, who Lemming probably thought would be heading to ND at the time.

Fans shouldn't buy what the Internet recruiting sites are selling

CLEMSON -- They were wringing their hands and mopping perspiration from their brows last week when the big news came out about Willy Korn.
Clemson University's prized freshman quarterback had just been demoted by some recruiting service from a 5-star rating to a more pedestrian 4-star rating, and the people who buy the stuff those services sell were concerned.
That's because we all know you can't get a better player out of high school than one who comes with a 5-star rating, right?
You'll excuse Clemson assistant coach and veteran recruiter Dabo Swinney if he laughs at the rating systems some of the Internet sites sell to fans gullible enough to pay the price for the vapid evaluations.

Continued...

"It's made our job as coaches so much harder, really, for no reason because these ratings are based on evaluations by some guys somewhere who doesn't see the players and doesn't know what he's talking about."
