  • CANTON, Ohio (AP) -- Homeowners who don't mow their grass in the northeast Ohio city of Canton now face stiffer penalties - including possible jail time.
The city council unanimously passed a law Monday that makes a second high-grass violation a fourth-degree misdemeanor carrying a fine of up to $250 and as many as 30 days in jail.
The previous law only made the first violation a minor misdemeanor, with a fine of up to $150 but no jail time. The new law is to take effect in 30 days.

    good!

That reminds me... I have to check with the wife if she called the city on our neighbors. They haven't cut their grass yet this year. The problem is their front yard isn't growing crazy. But their backyard is over a foot high.

one street over from me, there was this little house that nobody had cut the grass all year, it was seriously 2 feet tall in places, the city just cut it a few days ago - not sure what the deal was, never see anyone going in/out of that place

Screw that. My property, bitches. If you don't like my yard, feel free to mow it yourselves.

    Fuckin' landscaping elitists.

Which in Worthington, they will do, and send you the bill.

Good, It is amazing how shitty some people treat their property. If you don't want the hassle of up keep of a yard buy a condo.

One question though, if they throw the guy in jail for 30 days, who is going to mow his grass?

Neighbors who let their houses go into foreclosure don't go to prison, even though it's an eyesore and lowers my property value.

I appreciate a nice lawn and work my ass of to keep ours nice. Hell, I'd probably resent the hell out of a neighbor who didn't mow on a regular basis, but I sure as hell don't think it merits jailtime.
