  • my lab is about 1.5 years now, and just this past week he has picked up a new habit. after he makes tootsie rolls he peels out with his back paws. i have never seen him do this until this past week. i have seen other dogs do it, but i'm not sure what or why?

Anyone have any experience with this?

My dog does the same thing sometimes. Usually she peels out to get back to the house and us. Sometimes she tries to "cover her scent" but does a real half-ass job at it (covering a different direction she went in). Chalk it up to their personality....

What the hell do you mean by "peels out?" If the dog is kicking his back legs toward the poop he is probably just covering it up with grass or dirt. Lots of dogs do that. Heck, my female lab does that when she pees. Also, she does it more in our yard and less when she is out on a walk. I think it may have something to do with covering the waste up in their "personal" area. Or she is just cleaning her back paws.

my husky will deliberately wait to go to the bathroom when I take him on walks until he finds another dogs droppings, then he pisses on them.

Yertle does that, too. He hides in the bushes until a dog craps in his lawn, and before the owner picks up the crap, he runs out and pisses on the dog's shit.
