Does Growing the Grass Out Really Help a Slower Team?

I think that the "letting the grass grow" theory does the following:

1. Gives jerk-bags like us something to talk about. "OH!! Michigan State is going to slow Ohio State down a little bit! This might be a tougher game than we had expected!"

2. Gives jerk-bags like Mark May and Lee Corso and the rest something to talk about. "blah blah blah. Don't underestimate Michigan State. blah blah blah. Ohio State's speed will be negated. blah blah blah. I'm going to talk about something irrelevant now. blah blah blah."

3. Gives some opposing coaches something that they think they might have to worry about. "OH NO!!! Our gameplan was drawn up assuming short grass! I better start all over to think about the long grass!" If Tressel is one of these, then I'll eat my hat. I don't think that even Cooper would have fallen for this trick.

4. Gives some of the groundskeeping crew some time off. With pay, of course. Why pay five guys to do five jobs when you can pay five guys to do two jobs?

5. Takes some of the spotlight off how far John L Smith's ass will bounce when they throw his ass out on the street, at the end of the year, and puts it on something positive. "See? We're scheming. We're doing SOMETHING, despite not, yet, having something to show for it."

6. Nothing, really.

Who give a shit what the grass height is? Everyone will be running on the same surface.........it's not like their guys are trained to run in tall grass. If were slower, they'll be slower..........this is what I call a moot point.

True , It is almost as if the grass only slows down the faster team when people say that about letting the grass grow.:)
