Does anyone think Bookmakers influence College Football?

That's exactly what Miami fans say about the Fiesta Bowl...do you agree with them too? I think that our guys earned that '02 win, and I don't think officials decide the outcomes of games.

I understand that PSU did beat us, and im not blaming the loss on the refs, dont take words out of my mouth.

But everyone here can agree that numerous obvious calls were missed Saturday night, just because I said that doesnt mean that im making excuses and blaming our loss on the refs.

Easy, man...no attack here. I think you mean "put words in your mouth", which I actually wasn't doing. I just asked if you agreed with the Miami fans, which I'm sure you don't...it's much the same thing. I guess your statement that "the country wanted PSU to win that game" made it sound like you thought they intentially influenced the outcome of the game in response to some sort of outside pressure...if that's not what you meant, that's fine.

As for calls missed, yes, there were several...but that's Big Ten officiating, which has been on a tailspin since the early 1980's.

When gambling is involved, there will be attempts to influence. However, there are way too many people involved in a football game to only focus on the officials. There are so many people involved in a football program, and each one of them can easily become a target. At the High School level and below, I would consider the officials to be prime targets. But, with the level of scrutiny and "checks and balances" at the Collegiate level and above, I would think that they would be less likely to be targeted.

To put it simply, yes. Thats why I think that PSU got away with some penalties, the country wanted PSU to win that game...
If we saw a post like this from a miami fan, we would think they were a whiny baby.

there are horrendous calls every single week, and games that seem one sided. It doesn't require the nation to want one team to win, or the refs to follow that bias, in order to make bad calls like that.
