Oh, I don't know about that. OU has gotten thwacked in the MNC game two years running. Also, OSU's tough schedule will make them mighty next season in the BCS's computer rankings, which may have increased importance given the loss of the AP poll.BuckeyeNation27 said:have you seen the BCS the last 2 years? if it comes down to USC, OU, and OSU......USC and OU will get the nod regardless of how many gamedays we have
Well, it's certainly having an effect on the people in this thread. This is partially over the second string Gameday guys' comments. :tongue2:BuckeyeNation27 said:if there was another undefeated team in 2002 we wouldnt have gotten the shot either. gameday doesnt have as much as an effect as you think it does.
TheMile said:Ask Auburn if the media doesn't effect a college football team's season. What if Oklahoma, USC, and OSU are undefeated at the end of next year? With U of M as another potential contender, I want all the exposure we can get, especially considering our weak nonconference schedule.
i think you are in the minorityAt the moment, I agree. Again, I'm anticipating the climate around ESPN and OSU to be much improved in 9 months. I point was not the OSU has any trouble soliciting donations, but that Gameday exposure can only get more.
the negative perception of ohio state is already in the minds of the voters. it doesnt matter what pregame show is at the shoe....that wont change.Well, it's certainly having an effect on the people in this thread. This is partially over the second string Gameday guys' comments.
Neither Michigan nor OSU needs exposure.LightningRod said:I don't follow Auburn so I have no comment on Auburn's situation. What I do know is that ESPN obtains some of its highest ratings by televising Buckeye football games notwithstanding the presence of gameday. If you feel Michigan needs the exposure, then I will send ESPN a note encouraging them to set up shop at AA on 9/10. OSU viewership will not suffer one bit.
I guess I think ESPN is fickle and nine months is a huge amount of time for them. By then, I figure some NBA player will have committed some crime or whatever, so their wrath will be directed elsewhere.BuckeyeNation27 said:i think you are in the minority

Since you don't seem to understand my point, here's a different tack. Assuming this blows over, I guess I feel it's pointless to harbor a grudge when both sides, ESPN and OSU, stand to benefit.
That's not HALF as much fun as MY plan... I was gonna drive over to Bristol and burn the place down. Then again, maybe that would just validate their own feelings of importance and self-righteousness. Plus, I'd really hate to go to jail over the SOB's.MegaWoody said:The media are incredibly powerful today and we have to acknowledge that, not wish it wasn't so. And because they are so powerful, we should try to use them to our own advantage whenever we can. They aren't going to go away, so our best approach is to play to them when we can and avoid them when we must.
OK, this seems to be where we differ. Maybe I'm wrong and biased because I don't give any credence to the idea that OSU is dirty, but I fully expect the matter to blow over in a few months.LightningRod said:Honest question. What do you think the odds are of this matter blowing over by the Texas game?
Since I don't nearly have the emotional involvement in this as I would if Michigan was, I must admit that I don't know. That's why I'm posting, to give a coldly rational view of the situation.LightningRod said:If UM was getting hammered like this, would you be anxious to see gameday in AA on 9/10 against ND?

i think you greatly underestimate how pissed we are and the effectiveness of our memories. whether or not espin forgets about this years problems and lets go. WE WILL NOT. im less conscerned with espin showing up and badmouthing us. im more conscerned with a riot outside the stadium. if the texas game were tomorrow i would put money on there being a very large one. 9 months from now? without an apology or serious ass kissing from espin... i could see a lot of arrests and damage. with gameday on campus you are almost asking for a riot. what? 2 mill extra from boosters? yeah, meets 6 mill in riot damage. not worth it me thinks...TheMile said:At the moment, I agree. heres to "the game" deciding the fate of the big 10 yet again!I root for Michigan first and the Big Ten second. While OSU's national championship was admittedly bittersweet, I want your program to be healthy. I just want you to lose one game a year.
its gone on for 2 years now. espin was in columbus digging this up for a long time before clarett gave them their "story". i dont think it goes away in 9 months.OK, this seems to be where we differ.
