Do you think it's cowardly to not sign "dings"?

This is the way the system is and the way Clarity wants it. Do I like getting anonymous dings? No, but I rarely get them or any ding for that matter. If it is that big of a problem for you maybe "your" on the wrong site.

To add to that... everyone actually is accountable for their own actions, here. They just aren't accountable to you.:wink2:

If it keeps coming up, then it must still be something to look into!
It should be a simple change. It's been requested numerous times.

Or maybe, just maybe, it isn't still something into which to look...

Seriously, did'ja ever think that maybe everyone noticed the last eighty-seven times this was brought up, and maybe people have thought about it, perhaps there has been discussion, and perhaps a conscious decision was made to leave the system the way it is for some good reason? (Hell, even if it's for a bad reason or for no reason at all, how about giving the admins, who have repeatedly proven themselves to be more than capable of running a pretty fabulous ship around here, and who, from my experience, all seem to have nothing but the soundest and most reasonable of judgment, the benefit of the doubt here...)

Or maybe, just maybe think about the fact that this probably isn't very high on anyone's priority list, since it's merely a little extra feature meant for FUN!

Or, maybe I should just say, "Lighten up, Francis." :)

And maybe all that is why this is one of the site Warnings:

You've whined about dings one too many times and it's getting out of hand. If you're starting threads just to respond to anonymous reputation dings, there's going to be a problem, particularly if you do it regularly. Remember, the reputation system is optional, you can turn it off. Also remember that sometimes you just have to blow off people abusing the system just to get under your skin. Also consider the possibility that there may be some merit to the ding. Either way, please cut down on the 'ding whining'.

Well, I used to think that it was kind of cowardly to ding someone and not write their name on it, but as time has progressed I've learned that people will give you positive rep points for a good post, and negative rep points for a stupid post. It's really nice getting rep points and all, but rep points aren't the reason we all participate on this forum. So, I suggest we probably just quit complaining, and enjoy this website.

I think that if your going to give people the power to rep, you should make them be responsible for their actions.
With power comes responsibility.

Did you ever think maybe your dings have something to do with your constant rehash of how much you hate Bush "blah, blah, blah."

We have a lot of people who are democrats who don't like Bush, osusushichic comes to mind, but at least she doesn't just turn any political thread into a Bush bash-fest.

AKAK did a good job of explaining that to you on the Alito thread. You had a post that had nothing to do with Alito and everything to do about Bush.

You're definitely allowed to bash whoever you want but don't try to turn every thread into your own personal soap-box.

I think if you eliminate this aspect of your posting, the anonymous dings will decrease significantly.
