Eh, pretty far reaching conclusions from something so minor. The scrotum is at a slightly lower temperature than the rest of the body. I'm pretty sure it is well known that heating the scrotum can cause the sperm in it to be less active or maybe even inactive (not sure about that last part). This is one reason that couples trying to conceive should avoid having sex in the bathtub.

But I doubt that anybody knows the effect of heating your scrotum for a few hours every day for years.

Sheynkin and his team studied the impact of using a laptop on 29 healthy volunteers between the age of 21-35 by measuring scrotal temperature before and after they used a computer on their lap.

I think what they really found out in this study is that healthy males between the ages of 21-35 will do just about anything for a little beer money.

A serious case of laptop burn was reported in a letter published in a medical journal two years ago after a 50-year-old man burned his penis while using a laptop balanced on his legs for an hour, despite wearing trousers and underpants.
