One of my punishments for getting sent to juvy hall when I was a kid was that I was forced to play the clarinet in the band. Mom and Dad said it was a way for me to channel my energies constructively but I think they just wanted to stick it to me.

Competent on flute and clarinet... not so much on bassoon and piano. I'd like to pick up piano seriously or learn a string instrument at some point... actually, I'd love to study harp, but transportation is a major headache.
