Do you have a second favorite team?

My second favorite team would be Southern Cal. I like to see the traditional powers do well - Notre Dame, Michigan, and Penn State are the exceptions here - and there's no more "traditional power" than USC. I hate it when upstarts and one-year-wonders like West Virginia, Missouri, and Kansas challenge for a national championship - I'd much rather see teams like Oklahoma, Texas, Miami, SEC in the mix.

As an alum, my third favorite team is Georgia.

Agree with this post in principal, (except for USC part) and would propose a Big16 team conference of the true 'traditional powers', (thereby ending all of this BCS crap, imo, and ridiculous, endless speculating). Travel costs would make this plan prohibitive, but just the thought of all of this head-to-head every year makes me giddy.

For starters, something like:
OSU, Michigan, PennSt, Wisc, OK, TX, Nebraska, Miami, FLSt, AL, FL, LSU, Auburn, GA, USC and maybe UCLA.

Oh, and Michigan State is my 2nd favorite, because I love Dantonio!!

that is essentially my proposal... modeled after European soccer... several 13 team conferences... play everyone once, top 2 play for NC... bottom 2 relegated to lower conference (who play for their conference championship, top 2 from lower conference get promoted)

Any other team is a far distant second, but I have regional or conference favorites. My northeast or Big East team used to be Rutgars, because they were so bad it was always fun to root for them over someone like Miami. Having a good season takes some of the fun out of that. I live in Connecticut and seeing the Huskies do well is fun.

Always been a big fan of Navy, I almost joined the Navy twice and I like boats!!

In the ACC I like Georga Tech, great fight songs and my wife went to school there. We are very glad to be rid of Reggie Ball!!

Right now I enjoy seeing the SEC loose any OOC game. Their hype is just too much. Within the conference, I have always liked Florida.

Out west, I like Texas. They have a great program and Austen is an awesome city. I like their attitude as well.

I can't really think of a PAC-10 school that I like above the others. Cal maybe.

Wisconsin in lieu of Tennessee?

It's just a start. Interesting to see what others think about the concept, and what teams they would put in the conference if they think its interesting. Maybe you could start a thread if you think it's worthwhile, (I'm not sure how), and lets see how it comes out.

I also sort of like the the 16 team playoffs idea that I've heard bandied about consisting of a 4 game playoff starting 1st week in December, with consolation bowl game prizes. Eliminates conference championships, bye weeks and goes back to 10 game schedules, etc.

My 5 favorite college teams are as followed:

1. The Ohio State University
2. The Buckeyes
3. Thee University of Ohio State

4. Miami Hurricanes - I've always loved watching their athletes, and they'll be very good within the next couple years.
5. Southern Cal - I love the approach they have. It just seems so fun to play for them. They always have great athletes also. And their women are easy on the eyes too.

I'm sure he just means submarines :wink2: Go Navy, Beat Army

 Or PT Boats, or those sweet Navy Seal delivery boats...

But actually yes, I was being recruited for the nuclear power officer program and had they any sub slots open I probably would have gone that route. Subs are very cool, everyone on board gets trained to do everything required to operate safely. Very cool, if you don't mind the not seeing the sun for 3 months at a time part.

OSU is the only team I follow with an seriousness these days, but other teams I like to see do well:

Nebraska (I grew up in Omaha, and fondly remember the days of Tommy Frazier and back to back national titles.)

U of I (I love seeing programs rise up from the depths to turn into solid programs. Also, I've got a friend who goes there which bolsters my interest a little too.)

Cincinnati (For the same reason as U of I really. I've got lots of friends who go there, and its fun watching my home town team start to rise up from complete obscurity, to mild obscurity .)
