I have misplaced my pants.
I probably care whether some of the people at work like me. I suppose the higher-up guys could fire me if they didn't like me. And the guys who aren't higher-up, yet, might be higher-up someday.

Calmer than you are.
I care most of the time, with most people. Some of the time with some people, and none of the time with a select few. It's ok though, because I don't really hide how I feel about someone else, so those people know that they're not required to like me, and we are all ok with that.

I don't change the way I am to get people to like me. Sometimes I bite my tongue in certain situations, but that is just tact. Would it suck if everyone hated you-yeah, it probably would. As a teacher, I do consider myself fortunate that I am one of the more well liked teachers in the school, but I got to be that way just by being myself. If you have ever seen a teacher who is both hated AND not respected by the students, it is one of the saddest things in the world. We had a 1st year teacher a few years ago who had a nervous breakdown because the kids gave him so much crap, walked out at the beginning of 2nd period and never came back to the school.
