Do you bite your nails?

i gave up chewing my fingernails a few years ago. i made a promise to a girlfriend that i would stop. i've regressed a couple times since then, but i don't chew as a habit. unfortunately, i've picked up a worse habit: picking and chewing (off) the skin around my fingernails.

i think "onychophagy" was a word chosen for this or last year's national spelling be.
