Do Michigan Woes = tOSU Recruits?

They Call Me Assassin
Just a few quick questions for you guys- What effect, if any, does the coaching situation have on our recruiting efforts here? Are there players decommiting from TSUN? And if so, are any of those recruits looking at tOSU or vice versa? Also are we currently in any head-to-head recruiting battles with TSUN that might now swing squarely in our favor? Curious how that will play out. Thanks for your input...

On the topic of recruits decommiting from UM. I'm really the best source for that kind of information, but I do know that one of Lloyd's conditions for retiring was that the university honor all of his scholarship offers still on the table.

There's a lot of discussion going on about this in the rumor mill. It seems the general consensus is that the recruits are going to stay put. The one thing that has occurred is that Justin Turner, a Jr. at Massillon, has removed Michigan from the top of his list and replaced him with us. You can see more of that on his thread. However, as far as commitments go, most of the people who have their ears to the railroad tracks on this site think OSU will not gain or lose anyone due to this. However, I don't know enough to tell you if any of the Michigan verbals will decommit in general.

Simple answer = No

The staff does not appear to be interested in any UM verbals at this time. And UM and OSU are not going head to head for any '08 recruits at this time. I don't expect there to be much fall out from Lloyd's retirement...I highly doubt anyone verbaled to UM without asking about Lloyd's future and what the contingency was.

I think the main reason why we aren't interested = we beat scUM for just about every recruit we wanted. Adams, Shugarts, Pryor (eventually), Goebel, Torrence, Stoneburner, and Sweat all had scUM offers but chose OSU. Who did we offer that scUM got? Koger (who the ship has sailed way, way on and I know the current commits feel the same as the staff on that one) and Cissoko (I think he just had a verbal offer and we may have been interested but I think he is all Blue). So really it's going to have more of an effect for '09 by all accounts. Hopefully we can go north and get a few.

Not really completly off topic, but Michigans TE recruite Kevin Koger, in which I go to school with, got 2 phone calls at our school like an hour after Lloyds announcement. One from ND, and the other from WVU. I thought that was pretty funny. He is still going to UM btw, I don't believe anything is going to change that.
