My least favorite sideline face, Steve Spurrier, talks about SEC
Division Championship rules. I wonder how long before similar discussions take place in the Big 10 and Pac fill-in-the-blank.

He's getting some real challenges here in the Mid-West, with Weiss back in the race and Brady Hoke and Brian Kelly hot in pursuit.

But the issue of who plays whom (?) (not enough coffee yet, to go through the drill and figure that out) is going to come up very quickly in the Big 10. I didn't realize that Tennessee was locked into Alabama and LSU. Of course they're also locked in to Kentucky and Vandy.

The way it works is every SEC team has one permanent cross division rival that you play ever year. UT has Bama, Florida plays LSU, Georgia plays Auburn, S. Carolina plays Arkansas....etc
It appears our new members Mizzou and A&M have established themselves as permanent division rivals.

Then the other game rotates between a home and home for two years. Currently, Georgia is wading through the shallow waters of Ole Miss and Miss State. Next year, Hurricane Saban hits

If the SEC keeps expanding like it is, Spurrier is going to get his wish, for the most part. The more teams a conference has in its division, the more division games each team is going to have, and the fewer out-of-division games it will have. That will make the teams within the divisions play more similar schedules.

Of course, even if the SEC only looks at division games for its winners, someone will cry because so-and-so played other so-and-so at home, while we had to play them on the road, and THAT isn't fair.
