The best thing of all is standing on the pier in St. Augustine, Fl. at night looking south along the coast. All of a sudden you see a ball of flame in the distance, rising above the shoreline. Over the next minute or two you watch the flame trail across the sky above the clouds, streaking into the stars. You see the light become dimmer and cross above you as the world rotates on its axis, then you realize how far and fast the shuttle is actually traveling; and you have a new appreciation for man's accomplishments. Incredible.

Going to High School in Vero Beach, Florida they came by us, as we were down range for almost all launches from the Cape. I watched one Saturn 5 rocket launch an Apollo mission live. It was awesome X 10.

(OK, it was Apollo 13...but I had nothing to do with that exploding tank, I swear :biggrin:)

A friend of mine is a flight attendant for NetJets. She took this pic with her phone at 40,000 feet. Pretty sweet!
