DirecTV issues with local channels

  • From what I could find on the DirecTV "support" forums, people are having issues with their local channels in an area stretching (roughly) from Chicago to Pittsburgh with just about every area in-between affected.

It figures (since I was on hold for nearly 30 minutes) that the idiots they employ for customer service didn't know anything about it and tried to pass it off as a "local area problem".....

Unless their local areas are about 1,000 miles across :roll1:.......

Didn't you read the message they posted on every channel about not calling b/c they were aware of the problem?

Most the time if you lose channels you should try a system reboot(pull the plug). That usually takes care of things. But, if it's widespread that's another story and a strange one at that! :(

I had the exact same problem - but it was restricted to the HD content on locals.

This reverted once I turned off the HD receiver and then restarted the same - after about 10-15 minutes.

I've done that a couple times, both my regular def and high def stuff is out....

Yeah that was obnoxious to the point that I HAD to call to tell them out stupid it was....I figured it wasn't exactly germane to the thread so I left that part out

For me it was the local HD's, local SD was OK, all other HD (the MPEG-4 feed and HDPack) was AOK.

Odd that the symptoms differ location to location.

That is very odd......and some areas that were affected have everything back and some areas are losing things while gaining others judging from the DirecTV forums.........

That is usually the fix yes. Unfortunately not so today....

One possible explanation - the lousy weather conditions.

Other possible explanation, they are rolling out new software updates - could be they goofed with feed to specific areas of the country?

Unless cold is a new problem for them, Chicago shouldn't be affected....

that's my guess.....makes me think someone goofed big time...

    Everything is back now :groove:

I have not experienced the reception problems, my issues lately have been with audio and video synching. It seems like a lot of the channels the audio and video are up to a second off. Does anyone know if this is fixable

I lost HD locals only in Springboro. Fox HD came in at about halftime of the 4:00 NFL game but NBC, CBS, and ABC were still out. I was pissed when they went out but I just took a nap. I can't watch football if it isn't HD (only if it is two teams that I have no rooting interest for).
