Digital Camcorder Suggestions?

I might be getting a digital camcorder, but I don't know the difference between good ones and bad ones. Anybody have any suggestions? I don't know what kind of media is best. I'm not going to be making movies or anything like that....just the typical vacation/weddings/whatever type deal.

I would say go with HDD. Any other media is a pain in the ass IMO. The mini DV tapes suck and are hard to get on a PC. Ditto for the DVD recorders. Also, make sure all of the software that you need to put the movies on your PC is included

Right on. The HDD cameras allow you to point and shoot then copy and paste over to a PC. Unless your trying to take over 8 hours of video who gives a shit about compression. It's not like it's 1999 and 20 gb of hard drive space costs $200.00.
