Quite simply the most intense and unbelievable finish to a basketball game in recent memory.

Shaq: 'One lucky shot deserves another'

SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- The final second featured two unbelievable shots. Tim Duncan's might have been better, but Derek Fisher's came last.

Just as game time ran out, Fisher swished the game-winning 18-foot jumper off an inbounds pass, giving the Los Angeles Lakers a stunning 74-73 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday night for a 3-2 lead in their second-round series.

"One lucky shot deserves another," Shaquille O'Neal said.

The Lakers head home for Game 6 Saturday night having won three straight.

San Antonio, which had a 17-game winning streak ended in Game 3, had its 17-game home winning streak snapped by this loss.

The Spurs are now on the brink of elimination, something they didn't face during championship runs last year and in 1999.

They thought they'd won it on Duncan's shot, an off-balance 20-footer while falling to his left. Duncan didn't even see the shot go in, and the Spurs started celebrating.

But after three timeouts to set up the final play, Fisher took the inbounds pass from Gary Payton, sank the shot and ran to the locker room in joy.

Officials stared at a courtside monitor to determine whether Fisher released the ball in time. As soon as they said it was good, Kobe Bryant pumped his fist and a Spurs assistant slammed his clipboard on the scorer's table.

Stunned fans came out of their silence with boos, especially when a replay showed how close it was.

"Most times the play's not for me," Fisher said. "This is special. We almost gave this game away. I think tonight's game is indicative of how our season has gone."

I was talking a whole lotta trash after Duncan hit that off balance shot with .4 seconds left, only to watch Derek Fisher of all people hit the winner. Great game despite the wrong team ending up on top :(

I'm not a fan of the Lakers either... is the series tied at 2-2 now?

What happened to the Spurs, weren't they up 2-0 in the series? (I refuse to follow professional B-ball... tot he point that I change the channel when sports center recaps the games)...

True story, I couldn't make something this horrible up.

A couple of my buddies had a keg and I brought over some Jager and we got smashed and went to this bar that is always the hot spot on thursday nights.
After awhile I realize the spurs game is still on. There is about 24 seconds left and I start to shoot the shit with some guy about how much we hate the fakers. After Duncan hit the BS shot we both just started jumping up and down and a bunch of people came over to see WTF was going on. We were so happy he bought 2 jager bombs and I bought two beers to down once the clock hit 0.00. Then Fisher hit that shot we both had the most disgusted looks on our faces, but then we drank to Minnesota taking down the Lakers.

Go Wolves.

Not saying the Spurs are done but they are on life support.

I think I'm the only one who likes the Lakers here, and on BN. :(

I don't really like the Lakers per se, but I certainly don't hate them. I like Shaq well enough, I definitely respect Kobe's game (on the court, that is), and Karl Malone is one of my all-time favorites (I grew up a Jazz fan). That said, I can't stand Payton, am annoyed by Fox, and have always considered Phil Jackson as a nemesis. The only thing that really aggravates me about the Lakeshow is their incessant media coverage, and that's not really their fault. That said, I do hope either the Spurs, Kings or T'Wolves make the finals instead.
