81. DICK ERNST, WITHROW, 1950: Ernst earned 12 letters in football, baseball, basketball and track. He was a two-time Post all-city football selection and an honorable mention all-state selection. He averaged 12.6 yards per carry as a junior and 11.2 as a senior. As a senior, he hit .435 for Withrow's state championship baseball team. In track he was the 220-yard city champion. He went on to Ohio State, where he played both football and baseball. He played running back behind Heisman Trophy winners Vic Janowicz and Howard Cassady. Ernst also was the captain of the baseball team at OSU and led the Buckeyes in batting as a junior (.333) and hits as a senior. He later played one season in the Indians organization.
