The Auction house is kinda breaking this game for me. It's made things like crafting (jewels and smithing) and finding loot essentially worthless. Last night I went on there and was able to purchase perfect gems (as many as you want) for about 70 gold a pop and I bought lvl 25 rare items that is exactly what my character needs.

The result was my damage went up over 300%, armor went up by at least 150%, my character now gains 140 additional experience per kill, lifesteals, etc.

My 25 barb does almost as much damage now as my level 40 demon hunter.

How much did I spend on all this? About 32,000 gold (25,000 for one ring, and 7,000 on swords, helmet, shield, boots, shoulder guards, etc). You can get any item other than rings for about 500 gold if you search for it.

I tend to agree with this sentiment. It's pretty much pointless to spend so much gold crafting gems when you can buy flawless squares for 1.5K each. Also, it makes salvaging items from normal-hell useless since you can buy essences for less than the sell price on most items.

Then again, anything that you'd want on a higher level character still costs a pretty penny.

Wait until you hit 60 and shit starts costing in the millions...crafting will be worth while then lol

I'm still playing. Level 60 wizard in Act 2 Inferno, and I've got a few other characters, including Hardcore, that I've been working on as well. The game does get repetitive, but i still find it fun. Once I beat the game on Inferno, I'll just focus on achievements then.
