Several former Buckeyes got to participate in one of the oldest NFL traditions in Week 12.
College football is all but over, aside from a bowl game or the most minuscule chance the Buckeyes end up in the Playoffs. The NFL season still has a few weeks left, and five former Ohio State players are still on undefeated teams with real Super Bowl potential.
It was a good holiday weekend for former Buckeyes, with several playing on Thanksgiving and others making the most of their time in Week 12.
Buckeyes play on Thanksgiving
Several former Ohio State players suited up on the holy-ist of football days -- Thanksgiving. The day started with Malcolm Jenkins and the Eagles taking a loss on the road in Detroit, and ended with center Corey Linsley missing a big rivalry game with an ankle injury at night.
The Carolina Panthers were without wideout Corey Brown (shoulder) and Ted Ginn Jr. was extremely limited when they took on the Dallas Cowboys in the second game of the day, but still finished with a win thanks to a Kurt Coleman Pick-6 and the return of Andrew Norwell. Rod Smith made his first reception as a Cowboy for six yards.
Colts re-sign Boom Herron
After being cut by Indianapolis just ahead of the regular season, Dan "Boom" Herron has re-joined the squad. Herron suffered a shoulder injury the left him sidelined for four weeks; the Colts decided to release him with an injury settlement so that he could join another roster once he recovered. The Buffalo Bills signed him to fill in for LeSean McCoy and was released just before Thanksgiving. Boom wasn't out of a job for long, and can hopefully slip right back into his role with the Colts.
Steelers defense continues to punish
Just after halftime in Sunday's Steelers-Seahawks matchup, linebacker Ryan Shazier suffered a concussion and was taken back to the locker room. Earlier in the day, he and Cam Heyward were coming up with big stops; Heyward continued that streak with Shazier sidelined, coming up with a huge field goal block in the fourth quarter. Will Allen and Mike Adams also had good days, despite the close finish.

Devin Smith
Smith scored his first regular season touchdown in the NFL on Sunday, and his teammates were just as excited as the wideout. He had two receptions for 33 yards on the day, his second-most yardage of the season -- here's hoping this touchdown will allow for more opportunities.

Marking Coleman's fourth interception this season, the preseason free agent will probably be calling Carolina home for a long time. He was also voted one of the 2015 Phil Simms All-Iron Award winners after the game.
