Eh....I'd expect a player to say stuff like that....at least he prefaced it with a "there's always room for improvement" and the rest of just bluster, but he's 22. I'll cut him some slack there.

Now if we get into the season and scUM is say 7-4 going into the game against a 11-0 Ohio State team I may have a slightly different take on it.

(Above was posted back in June and) is a very real possibility.

Devin Gardner receiving a lot of hate mail, tweets from 'passionate' Michigan fans
Ann Arbor – Michigan quarterback Devin Gardner said he has received negative mail and Tweets from fans who are upset with the Wolverines' 6-3 season that includes losses in three of the last four games.

Gardner, speaking to media before Wednesday's practice, said he understands the negative reaction and has tried to help younger players deal with it.

"When you play well, everybody loves you, and when you don't, I don't know if you want to say (they) hate you -- I got a lot of hate mail," Gardner said. "It comes with the territory.

“And I try my best to explain to the young guys so they don't get frustrated. I feel like they've understood, like, ‘Wow, maybe it's just about us, no matter what anybody else says -- good or bad -- it's about us because they'll love you and hate you.’”

Gardner said he has experienced most of the negativity via Twitter.

"(I've received) tweets and stuff like that – just (saying) they hate me," Gardner said, before breaking out into a grin. "That's OK, I still love you guys."
