Rough start for the Wings. Goaltending is sub-par as per usual in the regular season. Defense has been lackadaisical, as per usual in the regular season. And the offense has been dormant. Other than that, things are great.

And it fills me with warmth to know the Blackhawks hopes are completely screwed with Hossa.

yeah BTW, Lidstrom got points 999 and 1000 last night. for a pure defenseman (and given the number of games he's actually played) that number is UNREAL.

Add to that he's still arguably a top 5 d-man in the league and was easily the best in the league for a full decade plus.

Niklas Lidstrom is has a career +412 rating and he has never had a - rating. To me, that's elite stuff. I apologize if I offend anyone by stating this, but Detroit will not be the same for a few years once he retires. He is a special player.

Of course, I'm sure some people said that about Stevey Y as well.

lidstroms on that list of athletes that youll tell your grandkids you saw play, hes that kind of hockey player...

Stevie Y stayed just long enough so that Datsyuk and Zetterberg were waiting in the wings to take over for him.

Not so with Lidstrom it seems. Supposedly Kronwall was the next Lidstrom, but he's not. Ericcson has potential, but his game is closer to Pronger without the cheap shots and general douche-baggery.

So anyone who takes offense to what you said is an idiot. There isn't another guy even close to taking up the slack from Lidstrom. Yzerman was the best captain in Detroit history, but Lidstrom is arguably the best pure defenseman every in the game and if he isn't #1, he's top 2.

Let me preface this by saying that the last 20 years+ as a Red Wings fan have been absolutely great. Much like the 20s and 30s Yankees and the 90s Bulls and the 80s and early 90s 49ers.

As it currently stands, this team isn't making the playoffs. They don't have the offense to make up for what the defense gives up and when the defense actually shows up, they don't have any offense. It doesn't help that Franzen is on the LTIR, but dammit they have been playing flat virtually this entire last month.

0 for 7 on the power play tonight. Read that again - 0 for 7. On several of them they didn't even get good chances on net. Bertuzzi hasn't looked horrible, but he has like 8 posts already instead of goals. He had 3 posts tonight :smash:

I'm probably over-reacting right now, but this team needs a shake up.

scary incident last night in the wings game. proof that even without contact hockey is a fast and dangerous game. even if you take all the crap out of the game stuff like this can/will happen.
