This team is in some big trouble heading down the stretch. Jimmy has been poor since his return from injury, but to be fair to him, the Defense has been equally as bad. Datsyuk being hurt has gutted them & now another player they cant afford to lose for too long, Kronwall, just got injured to go along with Erik Cole. They're backing their way into the Playoffs, which is never a good sign. Looks like they may have overachieved all season.

I would be stunned if they make it past five games of the first round. Whoever has been in net has been horrific & the D in front of them equally as bad. They can hang their hat on 24 straight Playoff appearances, but the last two teams have been rubbish. Three years ago was pretty poor too, but they made a heck of a run & pushed the eventual Champions to their limit surprisingly.

Yeah but back then Z and Datsyuk were both healthier and younger than they are now.

They got to 24 and that's great - and they might get to 25 next year, but the bottom is about to fall out I think. People are getting on Howard for his goaltending but Mrazek isn't any better and as long as the defense is out of position and garbage, these stupid deflections that keep happening will continue to do so...

I figure if they can somehow hold onto the 3rd seed, they can get Tampa to 6 games, but there's basically no way this team gets out of the 1st round as they are playing now.

@Mike80 Spot on assessment, I couldn't agree more with everything you stated. TB has also completely dominated them the last few games & nobody knows the Wings better than Stevie Y. The horror of Val Filppula tearing up the Red Wings in the Playoffs...

Mrazek it is. Curtain call for Jimmy? Don't think it matters much in the end, but I think this speaks volumes about Howard.

@Mike80 even with Abby, I don't think it would matter much. Don't see anyone getting past MTL or NYR in the East anyways, but Playoff Hockey is notoriously chaotic.

I don't disagree - but it'll be good to get Tatar and the rest of the kids some playoff experience.

I think Tampa could beat NYR and or MTL...they have the right mix of physicality and scoring ability, but their question is always goaltending.

I think Montreal is a paper tiger.
