Detroit = Americas most miserable city.

Actually I think Las Vegas should top this list...

Foreclosures, nothing but blinding sun, "Americas Fattest City", traffic, fucking tourists. I hate it here, but my family and my job agree that I must suffer.

Here's a hint, take industrial instead of the strip. We had an office out there off of west Sahara, about 5 miles from the strip and I didn't think traffic was too much of an issue.

Having lived in both Dayton and LA, I can say that they are very similiar, there's a lot of places you don't want to go, and a good portion of it is just dirty. I am always amazed when people show LA on television it's always either the really nice areas or the beaches of Orange County. Don't get me wrong, there are some beautiful areas of LA, but for the most part it's nothing special.

I was glad to see Chicago,NYC, and LA get theirs-newsflash-living in these places isn't like Friends.....
I imagine Dayton would have had a shot if metro areas under 370,000 had been considered.

Living in those places is what you make of it. It's not going to be like "Friends" (or whatever that means) for everyone, but many people also love living in those cities. I don't even know how you can judge what living in those cities is like without having lived there yourself.
