Desmond Howard: 'Ohio State is not one of the top four'
Ohio State was unlucky when their game against Maryland was canceled due to COVID-19. However, due to their own COVID-19 troubles, they did not play this past weekend against Illinois.
It might’ve been a surprise to see the Buckeyes at No. 4 overall in the latest College Football Playoff rankings. Ohio State only played four games this season and had their only competitive opponent in Indiana.
Speaking on Wednesday’s edition of “Get Up,” college football analyst Desmond Howard believes Ohio State is not one of the top four teams at this moment.
“If they’re able to play six games, then I think it's a no brainer,” Howard said. “It seems like they are going to play Michigan State this Saturday. I really don't know how that's going to happen but it's trending in that direction. Even if they don't play Michigan, let's say they don't play Michigan, there's still the Wisconsin game that they can play I guess when they're playing when the Big Ten championship is going on and that would get them to six games. If I had to judge Ohio State now, with their four games they've won, they've only played against one team with a competitive pulse and that's Indiana. Indiana gave them all they could handle and it's the worst we've seen
Justin Fields at quarterback at Ohio State.
“So when you judge their strength of schedule, it's the worst of any of the top 10 teams right now. But Gary Barta continuously tells the crew on Tuesday nights, BYU is so low because of their strength of schedule. I would say just right now, just by the eye test, Ohio State is not one of the top four teams in the country. I think Texas A&M is playing very well right now. The Florida Gators, their offense is very hot right now and their quarterback is probably the front runner for the Heisman trophy.”
