SoCal, Baby!
I have to give props to the best draft choice in last year's draft, DeJuan Blair. He was, you may recall, the second-round pick of the San Antonio Spurs. One of my personal favorites.

Many scoffed at Blair (though he was probably the best player in the NCAA last season) because he's a 6-6 center with no ACLs. Everyone thought he got by on guile and hard work in college, and he'd be chewed up and spit out by superior athletes in the League. Well, he just finished putting 28-and-21 on the OKC Thunder, and looked beastly doing it.

Although until Tim Duncan retires Blair will be only a complementary player, the Spurs look to be well taken care of when the big guy hangs it up.

So far, so good, but who knows if his knees will still be functional by the time Duncan retires?

I think he got in a good situation in SA. If the Cavs had used their first round pick on him rather than CE I think he would be sitting on the bench next to Darnell Jackson.
You're obviously entitled to your opinion, but I think he'd be starting for the Cavs. Regardless, given the concerns about his knees, Blair was not going to be a first-round pick - and San Antonio reaped the benefits.

My own personal favorite players in the League right now are LeBron and Paul Millsap. DJB has a game that, at this point, looks a lot like Millsap's.

I'll get back to you on March 9th. :p
I don't know much about Blair, but from want I've heard he seems more of a Leon Powe. Talented guy with a limited shelf life due to past injuries. In 5 years I will be surprised if Blair is seen as a better player than JJ Hickson.

Anyone follow John Hollinger at ESPN? He's an stats guy / NBA analyst and by far the best sports writer of any sport to me. (done with my pointless endorsement)

Every year he publishes the results of a rating system that uses college stats and height/weight/age to predict the most successful players in the NBA. It's not perfect of course, but has easily been better than anyone else's ratings, actual drafts included. Anyway, just thought it was worth bringing up because he had Blair as the 7th best prospect from the college ranks.

Watch Blair blow up for 20 in the second half tonight, but I think the Cavs are better off for passing on him in the draft. IMO JJ is already a better player and has much more upside. I still don't think Blair would have seen many minutes for the Cavs this year. He walked into a great situation in SA. Hell as soon as Shaq comes back JJ will probably hardly see the floor. Everything I've heard says that Eyenga will be a pretty good player when the Cavs need some fresh blood in the next year or two.

fi the cavs doesnot use their first round pic then there is a no way of sitting on the bench next to Darnell Jackson.
