Pneumococcal Vaccine Recommendations
Finally gave in couple years back with those.. but gotta admit, I am vaccine phobic now.. buried in my head I had buddies who did all the Covids (I did two) and major issues.. three with strokes.. whether factual or not, my perception and correlation to the vax#2 and beyond is buried in my brain..

FWIW, in case you aren't aware (especially for adults over 50), there are vaccinations for pneumonia; the CDC has information/recommendations on the available pneumococcal* vaccinations, etc.

*Pneumococcal disease is a serious bacterial infection caused by streptococcus pneumoniae. It can cause mild illnesses like ear infections, but also severe, life-threatening conditions such as pneumonia, meningitis (brain/spinal cord infection), and bacteremia (bloodstream infection)

Pneumococcal Vaccine Recommendations

Actually just got that vaccine. Changed my health insurance provider and, as a result, health care provider network, upon retiring last fall and the new doc recommended it.

So I reiterate - what the hell were they doing? You're not anywhere near normal when you have this severe of a case of pneumonia. Been there and got the tshirt.

Maybe he refused treatment - but his family hopefully at least tried to slow him down and get him seen/treated. And if a doctor did examine him and allowed him to leave with minimal treatment we might see a lawsuit sooner or later.

Just sayin - what's publicly out there doesn't jive with my own experiences. Someone fucked up - either Kyle, or his family or any doctors he may have seen....
Mileage may vary with stuff like this. Also, if you’re a professional race car driver, you likely have a higher risk tolerance/sense of invincibility than ordinary people so he might have been obstinate about insisting that he didn’t need treatment.

Maybe - I certainly didn't have much choice. That said, I do think it has a lot to do with that last part - he was refusing anything like treatment that takes him out of the racing.

It's something that his family will have to live with forever now.
