Sheeeeeeeeeeeit!
Has anyone been watching this show on The Discovery Channel? It is the most amazing show that I have ever watched. It follows the crew of some fishing boats and documents their fishing season. It is the deadliest profession. Tonight they are starting their winter season, which looks absolutely brutal. It is on at 9:00 pm and I highly recommend it.

I watched it last week, one night they had 3 episodes in a row about the King crab season (which lasts all of 3 days!)

It was very interesting. there was a great contrast between each boat's Captain and how they handled the crew and the ever-changing situations / adversity.

The crab fisherman are always ranked #1 on the list of the worlds most dangerous jobs. Even the lowest guys can make $50g for 6 weeks of work, but the hours and conditions are horrible.

I know some guys that went up to Alaska during the summers in college and make a boat load of $$$... bad conditions, I believe life was lost on occasion... but it paid for their tuition plus the spending money for a year...

I have watched that show a few times, it is a cool show. I just wish they would consolidate it a little. I don't really think the content needs to be spread out over 8 shows. They could have done it nicely in 1 or 2.

I've seen it a few times... there was a two hour long special on it last year that was popular and that's why they made it into a series. During the taping of that one of the rookies fell into the water and was pulled out alive.... the old timers couldn't beleive he came out alive. Those guys are insane... good for them that they can make that kind of money.

The series showing here had an interview with a guy about the transponders and how, when they go out, it means usually the boat has sunk. Within the week, the boat sunk and the entire crew was dead. These guys have a rough life!

Should be a great night for tv tonight. The new seasons of 'Catch' and 'The Shield' are on at 9 and 10pm.

I guess 2 deckhands go overboard tonight, with only one making it out alive.
