The only thing I've been able to find on the subject after really looking was a single interview. Asked if he would coach college again he said "never say never" and when asked about recruiting he told a story of having to leave his kids game to go give a tour of the facilities to a southern RB who Vrabel said "was never coming here" in the winter. Just a pain in the ass. None of those issues would bother him as the HC imo

One of Ohio State’s all-time great defensive ends, Vrabel had been a popular choice among Buckeye fans to be Ohio State’s next head coach if OSU opted to move on from Ryan Day after four straight losses to Michigan. Day’s job security is no longer in question, however, as he’s led Ohio State to an appearance in next week’s national championship game with College Football Playoff wins over Tennessee, Oregon and Texas.

Even if Ohio State had made a change, it’s uncertain whether Vrabel would have been interested in returning to the college ranks. While Vrabel started his coaching career at Ohio State from 2011-13, he’s publicly expressed a preference for coaching in the NFL due to the recruiting demands of the college game and was always expected to be a coveted candidate for NFL head coaching jobs in the 2025 hiring cycle.

“It feels like he wanted to go down to North Carolina and try to recreate that,” Vrabel said of Belichick’s move to college during an appearance on The Triple Option podcast. “I wish him a lot of luck in the world, unless they’re playing Ohio State.”

Vrabel’s sentiment comes as no surprise. He played at Ohio State from 1993 to 1996 and began his coaching career as an assistant there. While it’s unlikely the Buckeyes and Tar Heels will face each other outside of the College Football Playoff, Vrabel made it clear he’ll never root against his alma mater.

As for a return to the college coaching ranks, Vrabel doesn’t see that in his future.

“Three years in college was enough for me,” Vrabel said. “And I took off for the NFL. I’m sure Urban [Meyer] told you—he didn’t want to hire me. He’ll tell you that, or maybe it was just his way of motivating me. Either way, he did a good job, and I learned a lot there. But I just felt like the pro game was where I wanted to be.”

It's well known around the NFL that Mike Vrabel is a player's coach. Not only is he a former star linebacker, but he was a member of the New England Patriots dynasty, winning three Super Bowls under legendary coach Bill Belichick. These days, Vrabel holds Belichick's former job with the Patriots, but that doesn't mean he's above jumping into training camp scuffles.

During the Patriots' Wednesday joint practice with the Washington Commanders, Vrabel -- who, again, is a coach -- dove into a pile to try to prevent a fight, per the Boston Herald. He received a battle wound and emerged from the fracas bloodied.

According to Chris Mason of MassLive.com, Patriots rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson picked up a blitzer and took him to the ground violently. The two players then started scrapping before Vrabel jumped in to break it up, and a scrum broke out.

Patriots tight end Hunter Henry said after practice "that player comes out in [Vrabel]," and the coach apparently told wide receiver DeMario Douglas, "you should have seen the other guy." Patriots quarterback Drake Maye also praised his coach for bringing the intensity to practice.

"That's what we're trying to build, and it starts with the head coach," Maye said, per MassLive. "The intensity, bringing it every day, taking no crap when we're out there on the field ... But from mentality, I like it. I think that's what you want. I almost got in there, but another day maybe."
