Toledo Whitmer Junior Could Develop Into Big Time DE

When the 2009 season starts in a few weeks, one of the players I will be excited to start tracking is 2011 prospect Kenny Hayes from Toledo Whitmer. He was listed at 6-5, 216 as a sophomore and should grow into the prototype for a big-time DE. I caught a glimpse of Hayes last year and he harassed the QB over and over in the two quarters of football seen in the video below. (This is a college coaches premium video released today for bucknuts.com.)
As of now, Steve Miller has stolen the show as the best DE in the class of 2011 according to Bill Kurelic's 2011 rankings. I think that Kenny Hayes has the same potential or skill set as Melvin Fellows and Steve Miller. All three have the long frames and rare athletic ability for kids their size. Although Hayes still has much to prove, he has the same raw tools that OSU has coveted in DE's over the past few seasons.
Projecting sophomores is always tricky so the junior film study of Kenny Hayes will tell us exactly where he stacks up among the best in Ohio. Stay tuned to Bucknuts.com for more on this prospect as the 2009 season progresses.
