DE Keith Wells (Columbus State; transfer to Ohio Dominican)

Wells is a very interesting recruit. I was a bit surprised to read that Wells was one of a handful of specific recruits (along with Pryor, Hale, and a couple others) that Sweat mentioned that he wanted to help bring into OSU with him. I am not sure if they have ever been on a visit together or not, but that did seem to tell me that Wells really is a priority for the staff this year.

I feel like we really have a good shot at him too. This is one of those cliche statements that I hate to use, but he does seem like a "Tressel-type recruit." He seems very hard working, intelligent and grounded. He also seems like the type of recruit who is more likely to go for Tressel's honest soft sell approach as opposed to a glitzier Pete Carroll type of recruiting effort. He reminds me a bit of Cam Heyward who did not make a ton of headlines and didn't really inspire a lot of message board chatter, but was a bigtime recruit who always seemed to have legitimate interest in OSU (interest that was clearly mutual).

Rivals $

6/21

From 's Rivals' counterpart...ND has picked up its contact with Wells, although they have not offered and he claims a top 6 of Florida, Florida State, North Carolina, Auburn, Georgia Tech and Ohio State.

He recently visited Florida and didn't commit...and could be making a trip to ND/OSU soon. That could start to tell a lot about where Wells stands...I will be pleasantly surprsied if we can pull him out of the South but the kid definitely seems open to the idea and also seems to have a really good head on his shoulder, something JT recruits all seem to have in common (MoC withstanding).

Wells preps for visits
Fresh off a visit to Florida, Gainesville defensive end Keith Wells is packing his bags in anticipation of one-day camps at Notre Dame and Ohio State this weekend.
Two years ago, Wells was playing basketball in Cornelia for Habersham Central. Following a transfer to Gainesville at the start of his junior season, he is suddenly rated as one of the nation?s top defensive end prospects.
?Keith had played basketball all of his life and I think suddenly his desire has changed,? Gainesville coach Bruce Miller said.
The 6-foot-5, 207-pound Wells, who played both football and basketball at Gainesville last season, is suddenly on everyone?s radar.
Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Ohio State and Tennessee headline his list of offers.
Following additional development, Miller is confident Wells will evolve into a special player on the college level.
?I think they?re getting a project,? he said. ?He only started six games for us last year. He looks the part and runs extremely well for his size. I think his best football is ahead of him.?

I know it's been said before, but Wells reminds me so much of Lawrence Wilson, from their similar build and weight right down to prefering basketball over football(at least before their senior football seasons started).

Wells looks like he's a little faster than Wilson, where as Wilson was probably a little stronger and more powerful.

Did he name this final six after the Notre Dame camp, or was this from a few days ago and it's just now hitting the net? I know he went to the notre Dame camp this weekend, so I'm wondering how that went. Hopefully not too well...
