DE Jaylahn (JT) Tuimoloau (Owner, Giant Erector Set, All B1G)

"The off-season went great,” Tuimoloau said this past week. “I mean, I'm sure everybody knows it's all work. We’re all getting better, all changing your body so to get a full offseason with Coach Mick (Marotti) and the rest of the training staff has been great. I loved every bit of it.

“I am very different body wise. When I came in, I got some work in with Coach Mick. But I think this whole off-season, I felt like a big difference of just how my body felt, and I feel I feel stronger and much faster.”

“Last year, I thought had a pretty good, decent season. I was still learning a lot and still meeting with Coach J (Larry Johnson) countlessly to learn from last year and edge up my technique and just get better from there,” Tuimoloau said.

“There were times (he struggled), but I think that comes with always meeting with Coach J. Coach J was always meeting with me, and always critiquing everything and I think with that, my mindset was just getting better every day. And from that point on, I was like, 'Okay, I’ve got to keep this regimen and keep this plan going on and forward.' Just stay on top of everything and always get better.”

J.T. TUIMOLOAU, DL, OHIO STATE BUCKEYES

There's a reason J.T. Tuimoloau ranked as the nation's fourth-best player overall in the 2021 cycle per the 247Sports Composite. He's the real deal, but was playing behind several veterans for the Buckeyes as a freshman on a defense that vastly under-performed. New Buckeyes defensive coordinator Jim Knowles has to like what he sees in terms of upside from a player who plays with tenacity and is athletic enough to be an enforcer as a pass rusher. Top-end defensive ends seem to grow on trees in Columbus and Tuimoloau is next in line to be a standout defender in the Big Ten.
