DE Javontae Jean-Baptiste (transfer to Notre Dame, Washington Commanders)

Interesting one….I have to assume Ohio State told him he should declare for NFL or look elsewhere.

This is type of player Michigan has been building roster with. 5th year senior with one year left of eligibility due to the free Covid season.

With the space we have available the other assumption would be we certainly have some players lined up. He’d certainly be worth the depth behind Sawyer and JT…..unless he wants opportunity for starter level snaps.

Good luck Javontae.

confusing to me as well. Both Sawyer & JTT are Juniors but Knowles & Johnson sub like crazy!

Definitely best of luck, kid played well and contributed when he got on the field.

Best of luck to you JBB. Played well when needed but I doubt he'd see an expanded roll next year, so it probably works out best for both sides. Hope he does well wherever he lands.

Guess he's good enough to play, not good enough to start. Always thought that the best players are in at the end of the game, not necessarily the ones that start....Hope he does well with another team. Also might opine that he looked around the DL room, and saw some youngsters that were getting more attention than he was, so the proverbial "hand writing on the wall" comes into play here. Don't believe the freshmen ends are dogmeat, but Knowles/Johnson chose to use more seasoned individuals. First time we'll see them is in Spring game. PS, believe Sawyer will stay at Jack. Unless he shows out and gets the other DE spot, across from JTT. The DL will be good next year with Tyleke (sp?) and Mike inside, and JTT and ? (Sawyer? Abhor?) on the ends. Gotta believe that LB is 'set', with both coming back, and Curry/Styles waiting in the wings. DBs are a mess. Knowles might want to spend a bit of time with those coaches. Believe the S let tOSU down against Georgia, unless you want to blame it on the 'zero coverage' call (I certainly do). Hoping the CBs develop - including the freshmen, because by golly if they can run with our WRs they've gotta be decent. Anyway, Go Bucks!
