i'm a firm believer that the "family friend" is a time traveler. in the original timeline, chase suffers a season-ending injury versus maryland. so the time traveler jumped in his time machine and traveled back to spring 2016. knowing that the controversy would ultimately result in a short suspension that ends before the penn state game, he befriended chase and loaned him a small amount of money.

No, after Joe Barksdale played 6 games for the Chargers and then 4 games for the Cardinals last year, nobody has signed him for 2019. His NFL career may be over.

I just wonder what the chain of events were that lead to the discovery of Chase's loan today. It sure would have been nice if it was discovered earlier, like Sunday, October 27 (just after the Wisky game) so they would have had ample time to investigate it and maybe declare him eligible for tomorrow's game.

Rutger QB is counting his lucky stars that Chase is suspended for 2 games. That way he can lose by 60 without also dying.

I'm guessing it was the tOSU compliance department initiating a microscopic look at everything regarding Chase because of the huge increase in attention after the Wiscy game. I'm further guessing that a review of his bank account(s) discovered a deposit related to this loan. And then when questioned about it Chase told the truth about it.I just wonder what the chain of events were that lead to the discovery of Chase's loan today. I can't think of another scenario that makes sense about the timing of it all.
Pure conjecture on my part, guessing it's another self-inflicted wound by trying to be the poster child for compliance, which just makes most casual observers think that this school is breaking the rules to win, when almost the exact opposite is true.

Re: For Ohio State superstar defensive end Chase Young, Jones won’t be the only familiar face he’ll see in this week’s game. Maryland’s roster also includes 12 players from DeMatha Catholic High School, the same Hyattsville, Maryland football powerhouse where Young spent his final two years of high school.
Elijah Brooks, Young’s head coach at DeMatha, is also now at Maryland in his first season as the Terrapins’ running backs coach.

Just speculating here: Eleven Warriors reported that a dozen of Young's high school teammates (i.e. possibly close friends) were on the Maryland team. Anyway, Chase is from Maryland. I wonder if some Maryland player knew something about Chase's loan and Maryland leaked it (i.e. anonymous call to the Ohio State compliance office).
