SKULL SESSION: BUCKEYES SET TO MAKE NFL DRAFT HISTORY, CHASE YOUNG WANTS TO SACK LAMAR JACKSON AND OHIO STATE IS LAPPING EVERYONE ELSE ON THE RECRUITING TRAIL
MAKING HISTORY. If a Buckeye defender is selected among the top-five picks in next Thursday's NFL Draft, Ohio State will make some NFL Draft history.
Said differently, if the NFL Draft takes place, Ohio State will make some NFL Draft history.
Shaun Wade, you're on deck. No pressure.
AIMING HIGH. I am willing to publish the bold prediction that Chase Young will record multiple sacks during his NFL career – that's right, multiple – and he's already got his sights set at the top.
He's probably going to get his shot, because the Redskins do indeed play the Ravens this season, and I personally wouldn't bet against him. Lamar Jackson's fast and slippery, but if there's anyone who's going to hunt him down, it's The Predator incarnate.
Personally, I'm fascinated to see how his rookie numbers compare to our favorite bear brothers. They both had some of the best rookie seasons ever at any position. That seems like an absurd standard for Chase Young, but I also know what his final college season looked like in comparison to theirs, and it was somehow better than theirs.
Needless to say, if I were a man willing to bet hard-earned dollars on something as frivolous as a NFL Rookie of the Year future (gambling prospects are dire right now, I wouldn't judge) I would confidently, confidently roll with Chase Young.
