We probably won't see him at all this year! Dumb move.
Maybe it's for the best over the long haul.
Hopefully he will do what he is supposed to and work his butt off and we will get to watch him this year. That would be great wouldn't it taos?

Umm he is free to choose whatever path he wants to take. It his life and it is his to throw away if he so wishes.

If mentors like H&G just sit back and watch kids throw away potential, we are all in trouble. When young adults choose the wrong path, someone needs to be there to get them back on the right track.

While I am not trying to condone such behavior, it doesn't mean that he is a bad person or that he made a stupid choice. (Now if he is caught selling drugs, that's something different altogether)

Yeah because selling drugs is illegal...... Buying them and using them is.... er....ummmm.....what a minute......... I don't get it.

Clifford cited for possession
BY TOM GROESCHEN | [email protected]
Colerain football All-American Eugene Clifford recently was cited for marijuana possession, but the incident is not expected to affect his scholarship to Ohio State University this coming fall.

Clifford?s father said today that the marijuana was not his son?s.

?It was somebody else?s, and he had nothing to do with it,? said the father, Eugene Clifford Jr. ?He was just in the area where they gave all the boys a ticket. He just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.?

Snapp, OSU associate athletic director for communications, indicated that Clifford probably would still join the Buckeyes? team for next season. Snapp said he was unaware that Clifford had been cited for marijuana possession.

?If they?re in school here, we put them in a counseling program right away,? Snapp said. ?We have a pretty intensive drug testing program, and with a first offense you go right into counseling. I can?t tell you for sure if it applies to incoming kids or not.?

droping this negativity on this kid isn't helping anything. Might I suggest that everyone just chill. It was over a month ago and has been handled by JT.
Let's be positive about our incoming players and support them.

If he was cited and it wasnt his weed, wouldnt that mean that whoever he was with wouldnt own up and take responsibility for it?

From prior experience, if you are with a group of people and the cops find bud, if someone doesnt own up to it then everyone present gets cited.

Correct?

Is that really true? I sure hope not. I want to see what he can do (but of course also understand that if you make a mistake you have to pay for it).

Doubt it.

Hes a senior in high school. I would say that 40% of the kids at my school smoke weed at least occasionally. Am I saying that makes it ok? Hell no, but its not like its uncommon for a high school senior to be around marijuana. The fact that this happened BEFORE he was a student at OSU probably helps a ton also...

If, if, if then yes. But your predicate need not apply and still - as long as a young man who has made a mistake does the right things - we can expect to see Eugene toiling for a spot in fall.

Of course it isn't true. See Snapp's comments. Neither does it mean Clifford gets to skate, the eyes of several coaches will be on him.

it's weed, he's 19, this isn't a big deal, he isn't throwing his life away.

It's also illegal and he's a commit to Ohio State, so this is a big deal. We all rant and rave when players of other schools break the law, but now we're supposed to ignore this? Outside perception is huge. If we let Clifford keep his schollie when he's busted for herbis-maximus before he even gets on campus, what message do we send to the other LOI-singees, to commits, and to prospects? We need to keep that in mind.

Now, am I saying to yank his schollie and kick him to the curb? No. What I am saying is that it is a big deal becasue it not only puts him individually in a tough spot, it puts the OSU athletic department and its staff in a tough position.

It can work that way, but that's dependent on the cop. When I was busted, my friend owned up and said it was his, but our entire group was still cited. It just depends really.
