Another Buckeye big man is leaving the program early.

Ohio State will be down a second center heading into next season as David Bell will transfer from the program, according to Cleveland.com.

The 6’9 redshirt sophomore averaged 1.3 points and 1.9 rebounds last season for the Buckeyes, with a season high of five points in a game. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

A three-star prospect coming out of high school, Bell picked Ohio State over offers from Dayton, DePaul and Kent State. After a redshirt season, Bell improved, showing flashes of energy, but was likely blocked for major playing time by Micah Potter and incoming blue-chip recruit Kaleb Wesson.

The Buckeyes now just have two centers, and Wesson hasn’t played a college game yet. But Ohio State has three scholarships they could potentially use for the 2017 class, plus another for 2018. Don’t be surprised if Ohio State pursues a graduate transfer, JUCO prospect, or additional 2017 recruit to plug other holes on the roster, either in the frontcourt, or at guard.

Best of luck to Bell as he continues his basketball career.
