RIP Dandy Don. Many great memories of his playing and broadcasting. I remember one terrible Monday night game in the astrodome and the Oilers were getting trounced. There were hardly any fans left in the place and the camera was panning around at the die hards still in their seats. The camera stopped on three guys, and they all gave the middle finger salute to all of America. The camera quickly jerked away, and Dandy Don didn't miss a beat and said "there's three good Houston Oiler fans, letting you know that their team is number 1".

Those guys created MNF, and led to the type of less serious (and even irreverent) coverage that culminated in ESPN.

Classic. As a kid I remember bartering with my mom to stay up for MNF until Dandy Don sang, signifying the end of the game. I just wish I would've seen him play for the Cowboys. RIP, Dandy Don.
