Scroll to the bottom...it basically says the team was dancing on the Pack logo (a la Wisconsin, etc.) before the game as some sign of disrespect. Anyone know anything about this? Is this just another bitter near-scUM paper griping?

STOMPING: Ohio State stomped N.C. State - before the game ever began. The Buckeyes gathered at midfield at Carter-Finley Stadium after they finished their pregame warm-ups and jumped up and down on the N.C. State logo, to a loud chorus of boos from the sold-out crowd of mostly Wolfpack fans. "This was a big step for this team," said sophomore safety Donte Whitner, who made the first start of his career. "N.C. State is a great team and by beating them it gives us a lot of momentum."


Seems somewhat phony when they put in a quote AFTER the game when describing an event BEFORE the game, doesn't it?
 
For crying out loud, they do this every game. They meet at midfield and get pumped up. They thump chests, bump helmets and jump up and down. They jumped up and down on the logo because it happened to be where they were meeting. Anybody think Jim Tressel would allow them to dis an opponent at any time - let alone BEFORE the game when it would do nothing but motivate the other team?

NC St has a tradition of their own. At the end of their pregame warmup they for a line, remove their helmets, raise them in the air, and walk from the goal line to midfield. It is symbolic of claiming the field as their own. An NC St fan tipped me off to watch for it last year and I saw it for myself - at our house. Cool tradition - but very disrespectful if you choose to take it that way.

I was at the game and didn't see anything like this.

They ran out on the field following the cheerleaders with the flags and Brutus, etc. just like normal. They ran over to our section (where most of the OSU fans and the band was) and pumped their fists to us, etc. I think they were excited so many Buckeyes were there, then they ran back to the bench area jumping around and chest-bumping each other... normal pre-game stuff.

Then they announced the NC State team with a big "Chicago-bulls" style scoreboard/PA hype-up complete with syncronized fireworks. If our guys were jumping on the logo it was probably because they thought the fireworks was some crazy NC State fan with a gun.

The Blade sucks. I think it's a Michigan paper.

I wasn't there but this is something they do at all of the home games. It could have been after pregame when the team gathers at mid-field before heading back to the locker room. Tressel would never let this fly if the players were disrespecting the opponent.

I read the article and while I agree it wasn't overtly critical of tOSU the following facts remain:
The players didn't "stomp".
The crowd didn't boo.
The Blade sucks.

On the flip side, I was at the Marshall game and when it came time for our whole team to walk hand in hand from the South end zone to midfield prior to starting their warm-ups, the entire Marshall team stopped what they were doing and met as a team at midfield, so as to "block" our team from reaching midfield. A bunch of our coaches had to stop our players walking up the center of the field at about the 30 yard line. After our team broke ranks to go through their drills, Marshall went right back to waht they were doing before.

Give me a break, Toledo Blade! Dissing the Wolf-smacks' on-the-field logo?! Puh-leeze.

Amato and his North Carolina State fans should be flattered that tOSU was anywhere near their goofy-ass logo. That was the biggest, richest game they've ever played at that piddling little stadium. NC State got more national attention from tOSU game than all of Phillip Rivers starts combined.

TOSU honored NC State by showing up. And the only dissing they did was on the scoreboard.
