Dana Jacobson A Catholic advocacy group charges the sports TV network ESPN has failed to respond properly to a graphic rant by anchorwoman Dana Jacobson in which she "attacked Jesus Christ."
Jacobson, reportedly intoxicated, was speaking at a celebrity roast in Atlantic City, N.J., when she unleashed a profane tirade, saying, "F--- Notre Dame," "F--- Touchdown Jesus" and finally "F--- Jesus."
"Touchdown Jesus" is the popular moniker for a statue on the Notre Dame campus of Jesus raising his arms.
Catholic League president Bill Donohue said he pressed ESPN on the issue and received an e-mail with an unsatisfactory statement by Jacobson.

ESPN benches Jacobson for Notre Dame rant

By Ed Sherman |Tribune sports media reporter12:26 AM CST, January 23, 2008

Add ESPN's Dana Jacobson's name to the list of media members who recently found themselves in trouble because of inappropriate comments or actions.

Sources have confirmed that Jacobson, a co-host of "First Take" on ESPN2, currently is serving a one-week suspension because of her behavior at a Jan. 11 roast for ESPN Radio personalities Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic at Atlantic City, N.J.

While declining to confirm Jacobson had been suspended, ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz said, "Her actions and comments were inappropriate and we've dealt with it."

At the roast, Jacobson made a rambling speech that included vulgar references about Notre Dame. Jacobson is a Michigan graduate, and she and Golic, a former Irish defensive lineman, often have exchanged barbs about the rivalry between the schools.

One eyewitness labeled it an "embarrassing display," and a newspaper account said the crowd booed Jacobson. Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis also was in attendance.

Well, that was a shocker. It's funny, USC is supposed to be ND's biggest rivalry, but it seems to me that no one has any more hate for ND than scUM fans do. And that seems odd, considering how severely they've spanked the Irish on the field the past two years. You would think they'd save up all their hate for us.

I think when dealing with us, they've moved on to the depression stage.

Ironically, Google also came up with this when I did an image search for "stages of grieving" ...

funny thing is I'd say scUM is on the upside of that trend whereas the Domers have been stuck at stage one for the past 15 or so years and show no signs of moving on to stage 2.

That whole event was supposedly a complete disaster. Not only because of Jacobsen's vulgar display (from what I heard she was totally hammered). It included more than one ESPN personality totally bomb, and Charlie Weis giving a long winded speech about how great Mike and Mike are, completely missing the whole point of a roast.
