Hmmmmmmmm. I give Oregon lots of credit. It's the Indiana of the old PAC 8. Small population to draw from, Academically light years behind Stanford, Cal Berkeley/LA, and U Wash. Take what you can get after USC and UCLA are through recruiting in LA/ So Cal. And then in the mid 80's Uncle Phil gave them the resources and found some coaches willing to try something other than lining up in the same old formations and hoping they could out-muscle USC - course it didn't hurt that USC kept getting hammered by the NCAA. But look at Oregon's record from the 20's thru the 70s and then look at what they've been able to do in the 80's - 2020s. For example: 1920 - 1980 v USC .265, 1981 - 2024 v USC .475.

The money is big but so is the nike brand. I firmly believe Michigan switching to Adidas during RichRod years lost them a couple recruits. That shit matters to people. So glad we've never strayed
