Those suffering from allergies can build a bit of immunity by buying some local honey and adding it to their daily diet. Over time this will help your immune system against local pollen allergies.
It most be local honey!

(honey should never be given to babies or toddlers!)

Actually, there is a spore of truth to this - literally.

Honey, whether pasteurized or not can carry Botulism spores.

For babies - who have not developed a robust population of beneficial bacteria in their gastrointestinal tract - ingested honey with said spores can lead to a flora of Botuli growing. Botulism is no fun for anyone, it can in fact be deadly.

After the digestive tract is fully populated with beneficial bacteria and organisms they eat up the spores.

Typically is if the infant is past their first birthday everything should be fine. After all, by that time they have likely ingested their first annual dose of dirt - which is where most botulism spores are found around us - along with many of the beneficial bacteria and organisms we carry for the rest of our lives.

I would just like to reiterate that you should never give honey to babies and toddlers! And those with weakened immune systems should not use it either.

I have weened myself off sugar and replaced it with local honey and the effects on my allergies has been significant! I like to use it in my morning
cup of tea and in cooking. It took a while to get used to the different taste
and figure how much to use for each use.
A small thing like this can have a big effect on your allergies.
