Dallas Morning New has OSU ranked #2

I thought this was pretty interesting. Seems the state of Texas may be the only ones that aren't sold on the Longhorns. They have....

1. USC (Rose Bowl)
2. Ohio State (Rose Bowl)
3. Texas (Fiesta Bowl)
4. Tennesse (Sugar Bowl)
5. Michigan (Sugar Bowl)
6. Virginia Tech (Orange Bowl)
7. Miami (Fiesta Bowl)
8. LSU (Capital One Bowl)
9. Oklahoma (Cotton Bowl)
10. Florida (Cotton Bowl)
11. Iowa (Outback Bowl)
12. Georgia (Peach Bowl)
13. Florida St (Gator Bowl)
14. Auburn (Outback Bowl)
15. Purdue (Capital One Bowl)
16. Arizonia St (Holiday Bowl)
17. Texas Tech (Holiday Bowl)
18. Cal (Sun Bowl)
19. Virginia (Peach Bowl)
20. Boise State (MPC Computers Bowl)
21. Louisville (Orange Bowl)
22. Texas A&M (Alamo Bowl)
23. NC St (Meineke Car Care Bowl)
24. Bowling Green (Motor City Bowl)
25. Alabama (Independence Bowl)

The biggest UT critics are in the state of Texas. So that comes as no surprise, although they do have us at #3. And putting Ohio St at #2 is reasonable.

UT is probably one of the only flagship school that the majority of the in-state population hates.

I believe that Sporting News has OSU like #3. Top 5 are overrated, I would rather start the season somewhere between 8-13. I dont wanna start too low becasue then one loss alone could hurt us badly, and with too high of a rank, we could get a big head and crumble.

Uh, not with Tressel. I'll always start as high as possible, because the higher you start, to higher you remain should you happen to lose, and thus the better the chance of getting back into the NC picture.

I just spent 7 weeks down in Texas, two of which were in Austin. The fans are crazy about Texas football, but they are also very skeptical about all of the preseason hype they are receiving.

Most of the people I talked to speak of Vince Young like we all speak of Ted Ginn, but they were extremely worried about the run game and always weary of Mack Brown. I can't wait for the game but I found it funny how the Texas people aren't quite as high on the boys as most of the nation is.

Perhaps they are closer to the team and coach and consequently can judge the team better than those who are at a distance?
or maybe we can't see the forest for the trees, but its true that most people in texas are very gaurded about how they feel. The average person hates the let down that 5 years in dallas gives you so why get all excited about a team that has yet to play ou. If we win that game then you will see a much more excited fan base. However, normally at that point we are undefeated, I don't know how people will feel if we lose to the bucks and beat ou.

If you goto their scout message board, they question all of Mack Brown coaching abilities more than Buckeye fan's question JT conservative offense.

Everyteam has question marks, even USC. I see both tOSU and UT teams as top5 right now. Obviously that will change come Sept10.

It is pretty obvious that the Dallas paper thinks that Texas will beat everyone on its schedule except for Ohio State, which would be a pretty tall order considering we are a veteran top-10 team playing at home in the game. In other words, the folks from Dallas think Texas might be the second best team in the country, but the Ohio State match-up is not favorable to them.

That's all I see.

Is that so wrong? Sept 10 is going to be very tough, They have texas winning the big12 and going to the fiesta bowl. In the end I will be very happy with that season.
More importantly, they have Texas playing Miami in the Fiesta Bowl -- a nice bowl to get the Canes in, especially since they've historically struggled in the desert and don't draw more than 100 of their own fans out to Tempe.

I think most of us on the board can live with their BCS Bowl projections.

I also like their opinion of the Big Least. #21 Louisville in the Orange Bowl.
