Ok.. I got some good stories about this one guy in my office. But where do I start?
Here's a good one. There's this kind of boot called "over-shoe-boots." As the name says, you pull them on over your shoes. They're for if you're doing stuff in wet/muddy area and you don't want your shoes soaked or muddy beyond recognition. So this guy in my office and I are going to inspect some ductile iron water pipe near Port Clinton, Ohio. Obviously, the crew has to dig the pipe up, and it was really wet and muddy in that damned hole. So I had to get "over-shoe-boots." I found a place nearby that sells them, and tried a couple on. I normally wear size 12 shoes, so I try the size 12 boots. They don't fit over my shoes, because size 12 means it fits size 12 feet, not to fit over size 12 shoes. So you have to get size 16 or bigger to fit size 12 shoes. But the biggest size they had was size 15. DAMN! So I went somewhere else. Biggest size they had was size 14. SUCK! I went a third place, and finally found a size 16. They BARELY fit. (Taking them off is a bitch!) So the next morning, I was talking to this guy about how dumb it is that size 16 was so hard to find. It should be as available as size 12 shoes are, right? He went off on how no one has size 16 feet, they have to special make shoes that big. He totally missed my point. So I re-worded it: size 12 isn't unusual size for shoes, and size 16 over-shoe-boots would fit the same people as the size 12 shoes, so size 16 shouldn't be a special make. Everyone who wears size 12, should get the size 16 boots. Totally missed the point again. I gave up.
I have a couple of those stories. But I won't bore you, yet. (Maybe later I will.)
