Anyone have a rough estimate as to how much it would cost to have a contractor build a brick, 2-car, detached garage for a house in Columbus?

Your best bet is to go out and get a few estimates, there are entirely too many variables involved for someone to "guess" which is all they would be doing with your description.

Pick out a plan, and get 5 - 10 contractors to bid the project, that should give you a pretty good idea without obliging you to buy.

I had a 28x24 attached garage that was vinyl sided and shingled built for around $11,000. Depending on the size of it, you could get into a lot more money with it being brick and detached.
