It's not that I have a problem with the Corps, I don't. I really admire Marines and what it takes to become one. However, I have throughout my career had to deal with Marines in one capacity or another more than your average bear. I get tired of the lack of truthiness in the Marines opinion of my beloved Army. I would put my MLRS crews up against anyone in a best by test competition. My platoon sergeant is probably the hardest man I've ever met, including Marines. He has my Soldiers trained and disciplined. It sometimes scares me to think of the real destructive power that my 3 launchers have. Yet, everytime I find myself involved in a conversation with some leatherneck I have to hear how we sit around eating cupcakes all day, how the Army doesn't engage in actual combat anymore, all we do is support Marines. Or my favorite, the Marine private in front of the PX who told me he was prety sure he didn't have to salute Army officers since all Marines outrank Soldiers. Turns out he was wrong. Lucky for him there was a Gunnery Sgt. right there to correct him. My solution would have involved paperwork and a court marshall.

I guess what I'm trying to say is Go Army, Beat Navy!!!!

Tell that to somebody who wasn't on Camp Geiger with the 82nd while we out manuevered, out hustled, and out fought the Marines on their own home soil.

Since Camp Geiger is an MCT school for people no more than a week out of bootcamp, I'm sure you are quite proud of your 82nd airborne's performance against kids who 4 months earlier were sitting at home on mama's couch.

That was the equivalent to USC vs. Trintiy Bible college

No doubt that the USMC is the best total fighting group in the world, but no matter how bad-ass they may be, we never win wars without naval and air power.

I wouldn't argue that one for a sec. Actually, I never really argue any of this stuff. I spent the bulk of my time in joint-service settings, and enjoyed the benefits of each. Hell, I've said it before, and I'll say it again; the Marine detachment barracks was sandwiched between the female barracks for both the Air Force and Navy at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey -- I am and was all about friendship with the other services. We all were.

It always helps to get people, from the different branches of the service, united around a common goal.

I slept with a lot of Navy and Air Force chicks in Iceland. Sure was a great base for "cuddling and staying warm".

I married a squid. Just couldn't get her to wear her dress blues for the wedding. Blonds in Navy dress blues is a nice mix
