My parents are 82 and 78. They're currently in San Juan, Puerto Rico for a couple of days before embarking on a transatlantic repositioning cruise. The way I see it, my Dad, who's the more vulnerable of the two, is more likely to pick up the virus by not taking sensible precautions at a Columbus-area supermarket than he is by being on a cruise ship that has high-end happy hours, a well-trained crew, and anti-viral protocols (it's a fairly small ship from a high-end line as opposed to a 3,000 passenger Carnival party barge).

Man. I pray for their continued health but their timing sucks.

Someone here wants to make me the face? of the Covid-19 outbreak. Sorry. I'm not getting sick. I haven't even gotten my yearly cold or flu because I'm doing "social distancing" and washing my hands after I've been out. I wish everyone and their loved ones good health! Be careful out there.

I know it feels like an overreaction right now, but isn't it better to be overly-cautious and have it not be a huge deal rather than shrug at it until it is completely out of control? I'm certainly not freaking out over it, but I am being particularly cautious these days about handshaking/handwashing/sanitizing. If the worst thing that comes out of this (you know....other than all the deaths and roller-coaster stock market) is people are being more hygienic, that's a good thing, right?
